We’ve written about the Brighton Barns Project in the past, and are so excited to see a more in-depth article written by the project staff. In the article, they mention how an old photograph of a barn-raising helped inspire their project to create new documentation of agricultural buildings in the area before they all disappear. It’s a wonderful story of archives begetting archives!
The next step in the project is to actively collect relevant photographs and historical information from the community – all to enrich the metadata and collections of the Brighton Digital Archives and preserve this material for the future – “a touchstone for community outreach done right.”
We’ve saved a copy of the four-page article to our VITA Toolkit help site if you’d like to skip directly to it. You can read the entire 2018 issue of MAIGazine on the AAO website.
